Workers Rights Law Center's OSHA Charges Result in $61K in Proposed Fines
Concept Packaging of Newburgh, the second largest nail-polish bottler in the United States, faces a proposed total of $61,000 in fines for 37 different violations of occupational safety and health standards at its Dupont Avenue factory.
The violations included blocked exits, inadequate fire-suppression systems and an unsafe flammable storage room.
In addition, the factory has been cited with lack of hazard-training communication and failing to provide adequate personal protective equipment. Last August, a worker collapsed and suffered respiratory arrest and partial paralysis of his arm and face. When he tried to return to work, he was fired. That is when he came to the Worker's Rights Law Center, and we immediately began an investigation which uncovered the inhuman working conditions and led directly to the OSHA charges and fines.
